The difference between Bio identical Hormones & Steroids

What is a steroid and how is it different from a bio identical hormone you might find yourself wondering? Well it just so happens a steroid is a type of organic compound that contains a specific arrangement of four cycloalkane rings that are joined to each other. Examples of steroids include the dietary fat cholesterol, the sex hormones estradiol and testosterone, and the anti inflammatory drug dexamethasone.  Bio Identical hormones are hormones that are identical on a molecular level with hormones already produced by our body. With that being said, if a steroid is testosterone and Estrogen and our body produces those hormones to make us into men and women then steroids are also just another name for bio identical hormones. It is also important to note that Cortico steroids such as steroids your dermatologist gives you to treat poison ivy or steroids used to treat your asthma do not promote muscle gain. They are actually proven to do just the opposite and cause substantial muscle damage.
